Our Spring 2012 grant cycle is now closed. Please check back later or follow us on Facebook for announcements regarding this year's grant winners and future grant cycles.
In 1999, the cities of Livermore and Pleasanton, the Sierra Club and the Northern California Recycling Association (NCRA) entered into a settlement agreement with Alameda County and Altamont Landfill. The Altamont Landfill Settlement Agreement created the Altamont Education Advisory Board to propose allocation of funds in the Education Account for recycling education programs, job training in the field of waste prevention and recycling and mitigating the impacts of the landfill operations in the affected community. Funds generated from the $0.32 per ton surcharge amount to approximately $425,000 annually which are distributed through the Advisory Board's grant program each year.
We fund projects in Alameda and San Francisco Counties and the City of San Ramon. To learn more about our funding priorities, please review our Grant Guidelines
The Altamont Education Advisory Board is seeking examples of funded projects to highlight in our new website. If you have been funded by the Advisory Board and have photos, videos, educational materials, or stories to share about your waste reduction efforts, please send them to board member Nate Ivy for consideration: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
