In 2011 the Education Advisory Board awarded 1 Multi-Year grant for the following project:
Alameda Unified School District, 09-26 (3rd and final year) Alameda Green Schools Challenge, Alameda, West County, $42,500.00 - The Alameda Unified School District, with the support of the Alameda Schools Go Green parent-teacher-principal-district-staff group and the Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda, has launched the Alameda Green Schools Challenge. The initiative aims to: implement comprehensive 4Rs curriculum and infrastructure at all AUSD school sites and district facilities, reduce greenhouse gas emissions district-wide through waste prevention, recycling and composting, energy efficiency, community education, promote cultural change among our students, parents, teachers, maintenance staff, and administrators.
The total 2011 Expenditure Plan budget of $42,500 for Multi-Year grants was approved by the Board along with the option to carry over all unexpended funds from previous grant years and expend if necessary. A total of $42,500 in Multi-year grants were awarded.
In 2009 the Education Advisory Board awarded 2 multi-year grants for the following projects:
Chabot Space and Science Center, 07-13 (3rd and final year), Zero Waste College Intern Training Program, Oakland, West County - $50,000.00 The intern program will build experiences with teen and college student internship programs and provide interns with valuable career awareness in waste management as well as giving them training and real world experience in informal environmental education for youth K-12.
Hearst Elementary School, 08-13 (2nd of 3 years), Environmental Classroom, Pleasanton, East County - $10,000 utilizing the GGI framework and the monies from this grant opportunity, the Hearst Community will continue to realize and achieve our goal of understanding the global ecosystem through environmental stewardship in our own schoolyard.
A total of $60,000.00 was awarded from the multi-year grant total funding allocation of $60,000.
