About.

What we do.

The Altamont Settlement Agreement stipulates that a per ton solid waste surcharge be collected in order to support recycling education programs and job training in the field of waste prevention and recycling and to mitigate the impacts of the landfill operations on the affected community.  The Altamont Settlement Agreement also created the Altamont Settlement Agreement Education Advisory Board (EAB) to oversee funds generated by the surcharge.  To accomplish this task, the EAB solicits competitive grants from applicants that plan to implement recycling and environmental awareness programs.

Our Mission.

The objectives of the Education Advisory Board are to promote waste prevention and recycling, job training and education through:
• Waste prevention and recycling programs that serve schools (sending recycling supplies, program materials and other education activities such as filed trips);
• Non-formal programs, serving students, K-12;
• Community-based waste prevention and recycling education programs;
• Job training in the field of waste prevention and recycling.
